MTL safety barrier / Eaton safety barrier MTL4541S is an analog input isolation barrier, belonging to the MTL4500 series. It is mainly used for conventional 2-wire or 3-wire 4-20mA transmission in hazardous areas.

MTL Safety Barrier/Eaton Safety BarrierThe MTL4541S is an analog input isolator, part of the MTL4500 series.

It is primarily designed to provide a fully floating DC power supply for conventional 2-wire or 3-wire 4-20mA transmitters in hazardous areas, reproducing the corresponding current in the isolated circuit on the other side to drive loads in the safe area. For 2-wire smart transmitters, this isolation barrier supports bidirectional communication of digital signals superimposed on the 4-20mA signal. The safe side can function as a passive signal output, allowing connection to separately powered current sources, such as 4-wire transmitters, but does not support HART communication. The signal input range of this isolation barrier is 0-24mA (including overrange), while the safe area output signal range is 4-20mA. Conversion accuracy is better than 15μA at 20°C, and the response time reaches 10% of the final value within 50μs, making it suitable for IEC 61508 functional safety applications.
